On the almost exact anniversary of the big ice 2009 storm in NEA, we had a mini ice storm here in Bartlett, TN. There were probably two inches of sleet and freezing rain layers, with only an hour of snow somewhere in the middle to make it look white and fluffy and a dusting on top when it was almost over. When we tried to go and

play in the snow, we walked ON TOP of the frozen snow. Ashtyn did get to ride her tricycle down the slight slope in our yard on top of the ice and that was fun! But that was about it.
AND THEN............................................................
I was so excited to wake up to our surprise snow event this morning. Three inches or more

showingof beautiful fluffy, wet snow and still coming down. It was 7am in this picture but still dark because of all the snow coming

down. Daycare was still going to open so I had to hurry and get ready to go to work. Bruce took Ashtyn on to school, I went to work crossing my fingers that I'd get the early closing call. Maybe they'd close and we could come home to play. I

guess Bruce and I are the only people in the neighborhood that had to go to work this morning, as I followed his tracks right out of the neighborhood, getting stuck for just a moment at the stop sign. Not many had traveled down Ellis either. It was a pretty sight. I always think my drive to work is nice with all the trees and unde

veloped land, but today was especially quiet and beautiful. I got the call at 10am to pick Ashtyn up before noon in anticipation for a rough winter weather afternoon. And promptly at 11am, it starts raining and sleeting ruining our snow and my plans to play. We still played for a minute despite the cold rain. I made a tiny snowman, Ashtyn stomped around, and it was time to go in. Bummer.
Bruce came home for lunch and taught Ashtyn to Wii box. That was a major hit!!! No pun intended.

Maybe, just maybe this rain mess will stop and we'll get more of the pretty fluffy stuff. I'm would love for Ashtyn to get her first taste of snowcream and really playing in the snow. A big snowman would really make her day. She loves snowmen.
Here are a couple more shots from the day...

For now, I'll have to settle for comfy pjs and a nap. Yeah, poor me. *Snicker!*
