My comically, horribly bad morning

I drag myself out of bed, thanks to the sleep induced fog from my Zyrtec still lingering, and manage to get in the shower. I got Ashtyn up, both of us dressed nice, and even had time to straighten her hair. Bruce is all packed in the Acadia loaded for a district meeting out of town, and has begun cleaning out the truck for Ashtyn and me to use for the next few days. We’re 10 minutes ahead of schedule getting into the truck. Woo hoo! This day is going really good, or so I thought.

I have Ashtyn strapped in her seat, and I’m putting on my seatbelt while backing out of the driveway in the truck.

Wait…. the garage door won’t shut. I pull back in the drive and get out of the truck to inspect. A box has fallen off the garage can tripping the sensor. Ok… FIXED!

I climb back in the truck, and start to leave again, but wait…. the overhead lights are still on in the truck. One of the doors is open. Quick run around the truck reveals Bruce left one door slightly cracked. Ok… FIXED!

So we’re on our way again. I turn out of our subdivision, and then the next road I turn on is blocked with a tree knocked down across the road (in preparation to widen the road). I’ll just turn right and go the long way around to her daycare, so I'm thinking it's no big deal. Ok…. FIXED!

We drive the 5-10 minutes extra out of our way. Thankfully, we were out of the house early this morning. I’ll still make it to work on time. Good! Wait…. the road is blocked just past the last stoplight with power trucks and police cars. I’ll take a slight detour and I’ll come up from the other direction. Ok….FIXED!

We spend 10-15 minutes out of our way driving the detour and arrive at her daycare. Wait…. it’s all dark. They don’t have power!!! Or gas!!! Someone hit the telephone pole across the street from her daycare knocking out power, gas, and cable to the entire block.

I laugh hysterically. One of the other mommies truly thought I must have lost my mind. I told her that it only figures. This was exactly how my morning has been all morning so it's either laugh or cry! So guess who got to go to work with Mommy until the power came on?!
