Trip to the zoo!

We took Ashtyn to the zoo for the first time. I must admit, we were really disappointed. A lot of the exhibits were closed... gorillas getting to know each other, snake exhibit being painted, simulators down, etc... the place had really run down since we last went. The seal show has been moved, but we hadn't gotten to the new place yet to realize that we just needed to have patience. The old seal show was run down, full of gross water that the new residents - pelicans - didn't seem to care for. The old penguin place was now gross swampy water as well, with fish and an alligator. The new penguin exhibit really wasn't anything too neat, but it was extremely hot so they were just trying to keep cool. Missed going down below ground to see them swimming like at the old exhibit. The new polar bear and seal exhibit, aka The Northwest Passage, was super neat! Could have spent all day there! Indoor seating below water, air conditioned, to watch and play with the animals. And the animals thought it was equally as cool. They would come up the the glass and interact with us as much as we wanted, it seemed. All of her favorite sayings made their presence... "Ooooo" .... "Uh" .... "Kitty cat" .... "Look it" .... and of course "What's that"....

I've added a couple of slide shows (hopefully) to the blog from our trip!

Love the slideshows. She is getting so big. I'm sorry the zoo was run down, but it still looks like you all had a fun family outing!

About the frog. I would have screamed too. I can't believe you were even going to let it stay! One found it's way in our house this afternoon and I stepped on it. I didn't smash it because my arch landed on the frog. I screamed too and my girls came running. Emma, bless her heart, got it out of the house for me!

I bet Ashtyn was entertained by Mommy!!
