Andrea vs the Frog

So it's really late but now I'm wired. I mean wide awake!!! Bruce is in Louisiana so he missed out on all the fun. I have to share it with someone. Listen and you'll understand...

This time of year can be really neat out in Valley View. We have so many little tree frogs all over our windows, our siding, our doors. I really think they are just adorable. I have a habit of setting at our back door and watching them. I've already been thinking a little about the coming "frog season". Ashtyn will be trying to pick at them through the glass door, chasing them outside... but this is where they belong. OUTSIDE!

I discovered one extra tiny tree frog had made it into our house after it was already dark tonight. This poses a problem for me. When Bruce isn't here, I don't really like to go outside after it's dark or open the doors for any reason. Yes, I'm a paranoid fraidy cat sometimes. So I decided to just see what happens and maybe get it out tomorrow morning. Not realizing this was like Kermit on a RedBull and RockStar only diet. This thing hopped all over my bedroom. Up the walls and down, onto my ironing board, onto my treadmill, up the blinds and down... I've never seen a more nervous frog. I was coming unglued thinking of all the things this nasty little green booger is touching in my bedroom. I've told Bruce about our little green visitor and joked that if this thing comes near me tonight, he'll certainly hear me in Louisiana.

I've made peace that the frog has finally found a resting spot for the night and start to settle in myself. And off he goes! Again to the treadmill, up the wall, and over to the crown molding above my tv. He sets still again for a few moments so I get up and turn out the light. I just get off the phone with Bruce, and then THUD. Great. Here we go again. Sounds like he's on top of the TV now. Maybe he's attracted to the light and he'll stay there. Fine.

So I thought. Imagine laying there all nice and snug in your bed. You've just reached for the remote control, found a comfortable position, start flipping through the channels.... and then it happens. The distinct silhouette of a tree frog sprawled out and headed directly for you, outlined by the glowing of the TV. And then the soft thump of him hitting your thigh.

I don't know if Bruce heard me or not, but I'm sure the neighbors did!

I've had it. Off to the kitchen to find a pan to either carry or help direct/escort this stupid little green creature out of my house once and for all! He hides. Takes me ten minutes to find him, finally given away by the sound of splat, splat, splat across my floors. I kindly direct him out the back door. Goodnight little frog. Good "frogging" night.

Hahaha! This makes me wish I had blogged/photographed my spider episode last summer. Or the snake episode the spring before...Why does this stuff ONLY happen when they are gone?
