Such a great day!

Today was my second official Mother's Day and it was great, except that Bruce had to leave really early this morning for Marshall, Minnesota. This is his first out of four training trips up north to the home headquarters. We missed him.

Two years ago on Mother's Day, I was just getting settled into NEA hospital getting ready to welcome Ashtyn to our family on Monday! So this day has a lot of special meaning and memory already. And this one was no different. We originally planned for me to drop Bruce off at the airport in Memphis, but I physically can't make that drive right now. So after getting him off, I got to ironing. Ruffle-tiered skirts are so cute on Ashtyn, but they take forever to iron!!! Only 20 minutes into my ironing, she was up. So I brought her to my room and put on Shrek for her to watch while I finished.
We shared a bowl of cereal, gave her a bath, finished getting ready and off to church!

I was lucky enough to have my Mom (and Dad) come to church with me today. As we left, Ashtyn thought we left Bruce at church I guess. She started frantically crying and pointing back to the church screaming for Daddy. We explained that Daddy was at work; she calmed down so that must've been it. And then my dad took us all out to eat - never a good idea on holidays... gotta remember that. Then back to my house to clean out my garage. That was their gift to me (plus cute pjs). And I LOVE IT!!! They are so awesome. With us trying to spruce up the house to put it on the market, this is awesome, just what we needed, and a huge help! Only took them about two hours with Dad's blower to get rid of all the dust and straighten up the stuff.

My parents are awesome. They are always there when I need them, and even when I think I don't. Especially Mom. She has an understanding for exactly what I need and when. Love you, Momi! More than you will ever know... wish I could express it!

My gallbladder removal is in 8 days. EEEK! I keep reading up on the procedure and scaring myself. But I'd rather go in knowing the scariest stuff than being surprised that day when I'll already be a terrified mess. It's not that it requires to be removed or they would have done it last Sunday; it's more of a preventative measure.

If I remember the doctor's words correctly, 1/3 of people actually have gallstones, but only 10% of those people actually have any problems. 99% of people who have a gallbladder problem even once will continue to have problems off and on, if not all the time. And the worst case is an infection that won't go away requiring hospitalization and IV antibiotics. When asked if I were his daughter, what would he recommend... he said "Forget my daughter.... I'd have the surgery myself if it were my gallbladder in a heartbeat!"

Dr. Bruce Jones gave us very good information - I feel - to make an informed choice (pros and cons of life with and without my gallbladder), versus the ER doc last week. Dr. Diab was very patient and very caring, but not informative at all so I was uncomfortable making the decision to remove an organ at that time. As this is my first time with any problems, and I already have some infection, we're choosing not to chance major problems and do the removal now. The doctor scheduled me for the first surgery after Bruce gets back from Minnesota.

Bruce's mom is not working at the time so she's going to come help out some and stay with Ashtyn the day of surgery so we don't have to worry! I'm so lucky to have a great mother-in-law! Actually, I have some great sister-in-law's too! They've told me whatever I need... I'm just felling blessed today!

So I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day... I sure did and still am... Now it's bath and bed time! Good night!

You need to talk to Amy Reed, she just had this same surgery a few months ago!!!

I would be glad to help out in anyway with Ashtyn! Tell your mother in law if she needs to do anything that I can come pick her up or stay with her!!

I'm glad you had a great Mother's Day! I remember this day 2 years ago. I remember winning the newest Mommy flower at church and feeling TERRIBLE that you were still pregnant! I know how bad you wanted that flower - not that you wanted to be the newest mommy, but that you were tired of being pregnant and miserable! haha. But wasn't it all worth it :)

Happy Mother's Day

You both looked cute at church. Hope the surgery goes well and that you aren't too nervous about it.

And, it is nice to have family close and willing to help out!!
