"I don't think so, baby!"

Today we had to stay home from work/school for a fever. Or should I say we GOT to stay home and spend some time together!!! Anyhow, the doctor said Ashtyn just had a viral fever and when it breaks, it's done for the time being. That's the good news. He's been seeing it over and over for a week now, and kids develop a bad fever for 24-48 hours then get better just as mysteriously as the fever appears. Since strep is going around, they're erring on the side of caution and bringing kids in for an exam just in case. Now for the bad news... the fever almost always comes back in a few days, sometimes with vomitting. Ugh! Keep your fingers crossed that we only see it once!

While I was there, I talked to the doctor about if Ashtyn has a possible speech delay. I see other kids about her age who talk so clearly, and Ashtyn does not. I'm not a teacher, and I really just don't know what to do to help her. It's compounded with the refusal of Ashtyn to let me coach her or read to her. He said he thinks I may just be comparing her to "exceptional" toddlers and not to worry just yet, but read to her as much as I can and mabye better safe than sorry so I might go ahead and have her speech tested. She refused to talk to the doctor of course so he couldn't get an idea of her exact speech. But as soon as we walk out of the office, she starts jabbering and talking up a storm. Never fails, right? We get home and she promptly opens the refrigerator. (I'm having a lot of trouble keeping her out of it lately.) I tell her to shut the door to which she 100% clearly replies "I don't think so, baby." So she can't clearly tell me most things, but can back talk perfectly!!! Just my luck!!!

About two weeks ago, Bruce and I traded for a GMC Acadia. LOVE IT!!!! I drive to Mom's house in Bay and promptly lock BOTH set of keys in the car. GMAC Roadside Assistance sent a tow company from Jonesboro out to pop the lock. Big mistake. I wait two hours for them to show up and then do $1500 in damage to the vehicle I've had for only about four hours. I called GMAC to let them know about the damage. They assure me all will be repaired, and then send someone else as this guy never could get me in the car. As if this wasn't enough, Bruce gives me a lot of grief. I guess he forgot that the other vehicle had a keypad entry on it so I never had to worry about locking my keys on the car. Little did Bruce know, it would be his turn in a few days.

Six days later, Bruce is going to take my car up to his work so he could play the radio while he grills out for his guys. I beg him not to and just take his truck or one of our radios. Nope. He wants to take my car. While trying to back into the garage where he was doing the grilling, he hits one of the bright yellow poles. Locking the keys in the car suddenly looks like such a small goof....

I wish Ash had told Bruce that night "I don't think so, baby."

That's hilarious. Tate still jabbers quite a bit too, but can say "no way" more clearly than I can. I hope she gets to feeling better and that Bruce doesn't get any more bright ideas involving your car.
