Computers and prayers

Quick computer story... a couple of weeks ago at my mom's house Ashtyn wanted to do her ABC's. She plays an online alphabet game to help teach her letters. We kept telling her we would in a minute but the computer wasn't turned on yet. Her response is to jump up and run over the computer exclaiming "I know how to do it." We all set back to see what happens and boy did we learn a lesson! She opens the computer desk door to punch the tower power button and then reaches up to the monitor power button. Viola! She turns to us "See, I did it!" We're all amazed but laughing our butts off. What a Miss Smarty Pants!

We've settled into a pretty good night routine. It has been hard here with the midnight's dog keeping her from going down for the night or waking her up after an hour or so. I've had to relinquish proper bed time techniques for rocking her to sleep each night. I must admit that it's easier, faster, and she stays asleep all night more often than not.

After we get ready for bed, we set in the recliner to say our prayers. I wait about thirty minutes for her to drift sound asleep and then sneak her into her own bed for the night. Some nights, she fights me by not wanting to say her prayers or tossing and turning. Other nights, she says her prayers just fine.

Ashtyn's nightly prayer:

"Now I lay me down to seep, I pray the Lord my sobe to keep. If I die, afore I wake, I pray the Lord my sobe to take. Thank you for Mommy and Ashtyn and Daddy. For ever and ever. Amen."

I know it's going to be a good night when after her prayers she immediately follows with "I'm just closing my eyes. I love you, too." Melts my heart each time.
