Yesterday, Ashtyn walked up to Bruce who was sitting on the bed putting on his shoes. With dukes up she told him "Let's box!" He happily obliges, so they start duking it out. She finally lands a good one on his left shoulder and exclaims "SCORE! I win."
I've started calling Bruce again by his first name instead of calling him "Daddy". Something about still calling him "Daddy" is giving me the creeps. I really thought Ashtyn was old enough to hear me call Bruce by his first name. Not so much. She has taken up to yelling across the house "Bruuuuuce!" when she wants him. We've tried to explain that Bruce is his name and that's what I'll call him but she'd still call him Daddy. So her compromise was to start calling him "Daddy Bruce". I give up.
After a real breakfast of pears and half a Pop-Tart, I gave Ashtyn a little packet of sweet-tart style candy this morning to eat on the way to school. Yeah, good mommy I know. She was having a rough morning after a restless night, and I thought it might help her mood. Actually, I was holding onto it for a morning just like this. She takes it with a big smile and walks away while saying "Thank you for my medicine." Two minutes of total silence pass so I know it worked to calm her down, but then she walks back in the room with a puzzled look and slowly asks "Where did you get this?"
This afternoon, we had fun playing in the cove with our neighbors. Scarlett was having a rare moment and threw something at Ashtyn's four-wheeler. Her mother promptly called for her to come over and apologize. And Ashtyn, with crossed arms infront of her chest immediately repeats Scarlett's mother word for word with a straight face and stern stone "Scarlett, you come over here right now and apologize!" Then it's my turn to have Ashtyn apologize to Scarlett for speaking in that tone. Geez.
And finally.... CONGRATULATIONS "AUNT" BECKY!!! We got the call today that a dear friend has found love and will be getting married in April. We're so very excited to hear the good news. But then she topped it with asking Ashtyn to be one of her flower girls! I'm beside myself now!!! What a special day to come, and my little girl is going to have a part in the special day!
Can't blog tonight without posting a picture.....
