Service Worker week at school

Ashtyn goes to an awesome daycare over here. On the first of the month, they hand out the calendar of events letting parents know what's happening that particular month. They try to learn something new each week and also have special events each week. Two weeks ago, Ashtyn had Happy Meal Thursday and Sundae Friday. Last week, they had a petting zoo come to the school on Thursday and then had Splash Day Friday (which is actually every other Friday all summer long).

This week the kiddos learned about service men and women. This included firemen, police officers, librarians, doctors and nurses. Today was Dress as a Service Worker Day. So I've had all month to prepare for Ashtyn to dress up as a nurse. Did it take that long? NO WAY! One call to Grammi and she was on it!! I think it took her two days to get EVERYTHING. Grammi's pretty cool like that.

Anyhow, I was really upset when I saw Ashtyn's classmates this morning. Nearly everyone was already there. Out of about 20-25 kids present, Ashtyn was the only one in a costume. I was heartbroken. I guess I'm used to my Jonesboro friends and the other parents from the Walnut Street Baptist Church Daycare. Every kid was dressed up for all events. Didn't matter how small the event was. Plus I have awesome friends that would not send their kids out not dressed for a special day like that. I wanted to shake the other parents and ask "Are you really that busy?!?!" I know the other kiddos really didn't miss out on anything, but isn't it worth the effort to get a chance to give your kid a special twist to a normal school day. When I asked the girls after work about it, and they said only two other kids came dressed up today. Seriously?! (Insert loud audible sigh.)

Ok... I'll get off my soapbox now and show you how cute my little nurse was today!
