Snow day!!

I love a snow day! Especially when it's on a Monday, because who doesn't love to ignore Monday! It's not so much about the snow, but rather a chance to stay home with Ashtyn and not because she's sick!

I got up early to take a few pictures of the snow and our house. I can't help myself. It's so fresh and pretty. I thanked God, standing out in my street in my pjs in the dark, for the reminder that the world can be so peaceful and beautiful. And it's all His creation. Then I said prayers for those who have to travel in the beautiful mess! Not much after I go back inside, Ashtyn jumps up from her sleep, puts on her rain boots, says "Let's go build a snowman!" and begins to sing Frosty the Snowman. She's such a cute little stinker!! I explained we'd play some in the afternoon, but not before breakfast and maybe after lunch, too. She actually agreed without protest!

Home for a day. What to do? Catch up on downloading pictures and house cleaning? You betcha.

I finished boxing up the tree and decorations from Christmas while Ashtyn watched Despicable Me (for the first time of the day). Wait, did I just admit that my Christmas stuff is still out?! Moving along... I was really upset after downloading the Christmas pictures from my camera that I didn't have any adorable photos of Ashtyn to share and none of the two of us. They were awful! So.... it was "photo shoot" time! I got out the cameras and went to it! Ashtyn's such a cute "subject" plus I really just like taking photos and playing with angles and light...

Bruce came home for some lunch, and for some help. While Ashtyn played with her memory cards and watching Despicable Me (#2) we worked on mail-out postcards. Dating and labeling mail-outs. Yes, I'm working on my day off. How did that happen?! But it was spending time with Bruce and I'll take it!! Of course, we turned it into a competition if he could label faster than I could date them. Nope. I win!

And then.... we played in the snow!!!! We had a ton of fun! Ashtyn slides down her slide into the big pile of snow that had collected at the bottom. And then wanted to recreate the fun so we kept having to roll and pile up snow for her! We built a snowman, had several snowfights, and froze our hands off in general. I hope Ashtyn remembers her first time playing with her mommy and daddy in the snow for years to come!

After, she came in and wanted to watch Despicable Me (#3 for the day) but didn't quite finish!

After waking up, and eating chicken nuggets for supper, she asks for pizza. I explained we've already ate and I won't be cooking pizza.

"But please? Oooo, stuffed crust!"

"No, baby, we're out of pizza."

"But the stores have pizza! Can't you go get pizza?"

Laughing now "No, baby. It snowed and the stores are closed, but I'll go tomorrow and get one if the streets are better and we'll have pizza after school tomorrow."

"Oh, ok. Tomorrow you go to the store and get pizza, right?"

Snickering "Right."
